What we collect
ROOT@QUIZ is built to work with as little personal data as possible. Depending on how you choose to save your progress, we may store:
- A display name you type in yourself (not verified, not your real name unless you choose to type it)
- A randomly generated private sync code, if you use that option to carry progress between devices
- Your Google account ID (a numeric/string identifier only — never your email, contacts, or profile photo), if you choose to sign in with Google
- Your quiz scores, accuracy, completion time, and streak stats for chapters you complete
If you never open the account panel or submit a score to the leaderboard, none of the above is created — your progress simply stays on your device.
Where data is stored
Quiz progress and preferences (theme, sound, best scores) are stored locally in your browser's storage and never leave your device unless you explicitly opt into cloud sync or the leaderboard. Cloud-synced data (private code profiles, Google-linked profiles, and leaderboard scores) is stored in Google Firebase/Firestore, a third-party database service, and is subject to Google's privacy policy as the infrastructure provider.
Advertising
This site may display advertising (such as Google AdSense) to help support free hosting of these quizzes. Ad providers may use cookies or similar technology to serve relevant ads and measure ad performance. We do not control what data ad networks collect — see Google's ad privacy policy for details on how Google-served ads work, including how to opt out of personalized advertising.
What we don't do
- We don't sell or share your data with third parties beyond the infrastructure providers (Google Firebase, and ad networks if enabled) needed to run the site
- We don't require an account or real name to use any quiz
- We don't read your Google email, contacts, or any other account data beyond a bare account identifier if you sign in
Children's privacy
This site is intended for general student use (e.g. course review) and is not specifically directed at children under 13. No sign-up is required to use the quizzes, and the optional Google sign-in and leaderboard features should only be used by those old enough to manage their own Google account under Google's own terms of service.
Questions
If you have questions about this policy or want data tied to a private sync code or leaderboard entry removed, reach out through the contact information listed on this site.
